Wheels of Love 2015

1.75 million dollars. And counting.

That’s what we raised this year on behalf of Alyn Children’s Hospital and Rehab Center.

We were a total of 550 cyclists from a dozen countries who went to Israel to take part in a 5-day cycling event – Wheels of Love 2015 – to  raise funds for the hospital.

130 of us were on the On-Road Route – a tough but thoroughly enjoyable ride of anything up to 90 km a day with elevation gains of 1000-1200 metres daily. Such as from Tiberias at 230 metres below sea level, to Katzrin on the Golan Heights at an altitude of about 380 metres above sea level – with several downhill gradients on the way to increase the accumulated elevation gain.

It was a wonderful event, my first time ever. There were veterans who had done it many times before, and the spirit of friendship and good humour was unbeatable.

Here are some photographic highlights of the trip. Can’t wait for next year’s ride!
